Question Recycling waste - but why?

I recently got an old plastic box and started sorting out the tetrabrik cartons, cans and plastic bottles ready for the yellow recycling bins.
I have recycled glass bottles (loads of them! ) for years.

Today I watched the rubbish collection men come and empty the green bins.
After they had emptied the green bins, they emptied the yellow bin - all into the same lorry.

I sometimes wonder . . .

I guess it's not possible he had separate compartments in the lorry? I suppose not, but you never know.

On TV last year there was a report about special bins in shopping centres (I think?) that had three slots on top. The only problem was everything went into the same bag! Naturally a day or two after the report, all the bins were fixed to work properly. Perhaps that's what you need to do - grab a few photos of them emptying all the rubbish into the one lorry and stick 'em on the web...

Hi El Jefe,
It is JUST possible there was another compartment, I did consider that, but don't think so.
I'll try to get a closer look next time, camera in hand!

I think that sometimes it's a case of being SEEN to be doing the correct thing rather than actually doing it. It keeps people from harassing them.

Thumbs up

They came again today.
Emptied the green bins.
Left the yellow bin.
Same crew? - Who knows.
Certainly a very similar lorry.

Maybe they have been reading this forum!

Sorry Michaela, I hadn't thought about ashing the company.
You used to work for their office in Albox, didn't you?
Any comments?

Lately the lorry has only been emptying the green bins, even when the recycling yellow bin was overfull. Maybe it was just a one off aberration.

I could understand it if recycling was going by the board. There is no money in recycling now that the banking crisis has ruined the economy.
