This is Marina’s story – I was left in the river with my brothers and sisters on a cold and wet Sunday in February, we did not asked to be born, my mother should have been spayed then her owner would not have had dumped us all in the dirty river. My brothers and sisters all died around me, a lady passing walking her dogs heard my cries and when she picked me up I squeaked. She rushed me to her house, dried me off then raced to the vets.
At the vets a lady took me from her, whispered sweet things in my ear, then vet decided to put me under the heat lamp for a few hours to see if I would survive. The lady (my fosterer) said she would be back at 5pm. I was going to make sure that I would be ok for her at 5pm, I was going to live. The fosterer came and wrapped me up in warm blankets and put me in a carrier with hot water bottle, on arriving at her house I had my first warm milk feed, I could feel it going round in my tummy, making me feel all warm inside. I had health problems over the next few days something to do with the bad water that I was left in and had swallowed, but with a few injections and lots of love and care I pulled through.
I was bottled fed for 4 weeks and then gradually weaned from the bottle on to solid food and now there is no stopping me. My fosterer thinks that I am a German Shepherd cross; she also thinks that I am beautiful which I might add I agree.
I am seven weeks now, had two lots of worming done, and three injections; I can now walk on a lead. I play all day with four other dogs and have lots of fun, but I would like to have a home of my own some day.
