Hola,

Just wondered if anyone has gone through the process of getting your vehicle registered for tax, due shortly, I believe. The other car we bought in Albox caused no problems and we have been receiving the slips for years automatically. the more recent purchase in Antas is not the case.

Can anyone confirm that we need to go to our local Ayuntiamento to get it registered.

Regards.

Hi Mikey. Our tax expired a few months ago, and so we made the same enquiry. We was told by other Brits with experience of this that it is paid at 'your' own local (padron) Ayuntiamento.
However, on going there, we were told by the Civil Servant that you can only pay it at the end of April and/or begginning of May time. We voiced at our concern at the fact our vehicle would not be road legal (as we're familiar of it being so if in the UK) but were told we will not be prosecuted for it if stopped by the old bill. That wasn't very reassuring. In any event, we're hoping to be able to get ours done next week now that its May. Sods law says that they will now say it should have been paid in March and that its too late now, or something else stupid (such is our luck here). Hope this helps, and good luck.
