Is it better to change sterling into euros in Spain or change it in the UK. At the moment it's around 1.23 ;)

It's better to change it in Spain .. But if you put it in your english bank and pull it out over here
, that's even better.

If you are just coming for a visit then changing across the counter at a Spanish bank usually gives you a better rate. Also if you have a Nationwide account in the UK you can draw money from a cash machine here incuring no charges Uk end and still get a better rate.

Thank you rambla girl. We have an account a CAM bank account. So do you think I should transfer money from UK account into the Spanish bank account. Or is it better to bring the sterling to spain and then change it either at the Cam or any other one. What other banks are there in Albox?

I can confirm that a Nationwide account is very handy for free withdrawals from overseas ATMs at a preferential rate. (I opened an account specifically for this purpose)
However my wife has recently opened an account with Abbey which offers the same facility and they are part of the Santander group.

Do you know what banks there are in Albox? I'm over there Thursday 31st August, I don't think we will be able to open a Nationwide account in time?

Banco de Valencia perhaps 0034950430300 matter of choice I guess.

If you go online you should manage a Nationwide account by then, just about,or go into an Abbey branch
