Our household insurance is due for renewal; does any one know which companies are currently offering the best deal? Also are their any policies which are inclusive for items lost outside the insured’s properties.

I don´t know about who gives the best deals, it depends on what you expect from your insurance. We took a policy with Santalucia, the english speaking agent was very good about getting us covered for a collection at a good rate, something that you can not easily get here.

When we had a claim she looked after the whole thing for us and came to translate when the workman came. They have many extras on the policy to cover emergencies that you wouldn´t normally expect.

Agents name is Angie Hallworth and her phone number is: 616 321 059

There are quite a few agents (including Santa Lucia) listed in our directory - check out the link below...

We got the best quote from our bank (like for like -watch for that when quoted) which included accidential loss, away from the home, freezers, money, replaced new for old etc. etc.

As ramblaed says depends on what you need

We obtained our last B & C Insurance fro Serfilla just lower down than GB stores on the same side. Exact same cover as the Cajamar policy it was to replace including all the items you mention - but € 120 less and over € 250 less than the lowest quote from any of the English orientated brokers in the area.

Hola,

Sorry to change the thread somewhat but, with the current apalling situation in China and Burma, would the insurance companies pay out for re-builds on the poor blighters stuck with illegal homes out here do you think should there be a quake, flood or fire, is this an act of dog!, they take your premiums without too many questions asked, just got me thinking. How could you re-build on a plot that may not have been legal in the first place?

Good question Mikey, I´ve wondered the same thing. I decided if it was that bad I´d just ask for the money and buy something else.

On that subject, we have an update from the bods in Almeria about the illegal houses around here. Our application will not be going through as they say they can´t include our house as it is just outside the area to be included on this plan. However, as they are not going to pull any houses down then they must be legalised. We can expect ours to be done sometime, may be a couple of years or more, probably a lot longer than that. For which favour they will expect a great wodge of money.

We were told though that anything could happen, laws can be changed overnight and to keep our eye on the situation to be ready in case that happens . LOL
