We are considering moving to the area in the next month or so, we need some advice we are considering opening a shop with shoes and handbags and clothes everything in there will be 15 to 20 euros each, coats dresses shoes bags trousers anything you wanted do you think this would work any advice would be appreciated regards paula

Well..... several clothes shops have opened (and shut) in fairly rapid succession recently... and there are three very large shopping malls (one with Primark) within travelling distance, so I think I'd do a bit more research if I was you. A lot of the Chinese Todo's also stock that kind of thing, and then there are the very extensive local markets.... it is not the availability of stuff that seems to be the problem - more like a shortage of customers!

I would also add... the very high overhead costs of Spanish bureaucracy (licenses, etc.) and Social Security contributions for staff (and yourself). Spain is not a cheap or easy place to run a (legal) small business.

Nearest:

Almenara at Lorca (straight up the main highway - about 35 minutes)

Biggest: Murcia (two extremely good ones) just over an hour or so

Also (opposite direction, South) Almeria.

The ones in Murcia are HUGE.....:)
