Is anyone aware of any sources of old photographs of Albox area. There are various sources of more well known Andalucian locations but I cant find any of Albox apart from the rambla 'flood' on you tube. In the distant past in rural areas no doubt folk didn't have cameras.

If you go into the Mirador cafe in Albox there are quite a few old photos on the wall down at the end of the bar next to the tapas cabinet.

Hello,i have signed up to help you out, there are a few photos here on the Somos Albojenses web page here,

But i also recommend a fantastic book called Almeria Insolita showing the photographic legacy of Gustavo Gillman an Englishman who worked on the Baza to Lorca Railway in the late 1800s to early 1900s.It is quite expensive at 50 euros but is a fascinating book, available from the bookshop/newsagent in Albox high street.

A couple of you tube videos about the book

Thanks Cantabrian, glad you enjoyed the photos,i wanted to add another link but ran out of space, last year Somos Albojenses uploaded all the Programmes of the Feria going back to 1959,scroll down the pages when you have a spare hour, quite interesting to see how the Town has developed over the years.I guess not many people owned a camera back then.

Thanks for the posts Caballero there were some great pics and videos. Do you know where the Gustave Gillman exhibition is located? It looks like it might be well worth a visit.:)

It was in Almeria City last year before moving to Purchena, but now i am not sure where it is or even if it is still on show, its a pity because it deserves a permanent home somewhere in the Almanzora Valley in my opinion.I have sent an e-mail to the book publishers,if i get a reply i will let you know.
